Fajalauza Party 2 Vasel

Contemporary ceramic piece, made of clay and porcelain and hand-glazed with metallic oxides, pigments and recycled colored glass. All handmade, and its interior is as colorful as the exterior. It has the shape of an eight-pointed star, whose importance dates back to ancient times and I explain my process below.
The title «Fajalausa Party» is due to the tradition of ceramics called Fajalauza, and the word Party for the color that I have generated in the sculptures with an expressionist and organic style.
The creation process consisted of studying the history of ceramics in Granada, from the beginning of time, and carried out an investigation of the symbols and colors used, as well as the cultural origin of ceramics.
On the one hand, I found a domestic pottery with copper green and cobalt blue colors called “fajalauza”. And on the other hand, a majestic ceramic for decorative use, of a high level with metallic enamels available only to the high society of that time.
This led me to the Alhambra, a symbol of the city of Granada. In the Alhambra I was captivated by the use of the Star of Solomon or also the Star of Regeneration. Also known as Octogram, the eight-pointed star, is an ancient symbol that has been used by many civilizations for various purposes throughout history. Hindus, Buddhists, Chinese, Babylonians, Native Americans, Christians and Muslims made use of the symbol, one of the most mysterious and captivating.
In the Tartessian culture (from ancient Iberia) it symbolizes fullness, regeneration. The Egyptians associate it with the star Sirius, the central sun of the galaxy, they also link it with the flooding of the Nile. For the Babylonians it symbolizes Ishtar (Venus), the goddess of fertility and rain, and for such a distant civilization as the Mayans have the same symbolism. The Templars also use it as a code to decipher their secret alphabet.
